Maybe you already knew, or maybe you didn’t, that most houseplants are sold in plastic nursery pots (grow pots), and while these pots are perfect for growing plants, they aren’t exactly the showiest. Today we give you 5 ideas to decorate pots that will make your space really beautiful and striking.

Have you ever bought a bunch of new indoor plants and wondered what you can do to beautify these pots without spending a lot of money?

Just take out the glue gun, find anything that can be easily glued on, and be crafty. It’s time to decorate your indoor plants!

5 creative ideas to decorate pots for indoor plants

There are several ways to dress your plants cute in the short or long term. Remember that pots have drainage holes, so you will need a plate or tray to prevent water from seeping onto your tables or floors.

1. Put on a skirt

If you have an old t-shirt, scarf, or pillowcase, you can repurpose these items and make the cutest plant covers. Cut the fabric to size and glue or sew it around the pot. Cut the fabric just above the bottom of the pot to keep it dry. Decorating pots with fabric is very easy and you can do practically whatever you want with the most versatile patterns.

2. Use toys or game pieces

If you take a minute to rummage through the bottom of your child’s toy box, the closet floor, or (if you dare) under the bed, you will undoubtedly find one or two (or a hundred) unused play pieces or small toys.

Dig around and get everything you can imagine stuck to your plastic pot. You can use dice, wooden building blocks, puzzle pieces, just about anything that suits your taste.

3. Put a sock on it!

Call them plant leggings, tights, or stretch plant pants – they’ll all get the job done quickly and add style. Cut off the foot of the sock and pull it up just over the rim of the pot.

You may need a bit of glue to hold it in place, but this is a great and easy way to dress up that boring plastic planter.

4. Wrap the pot in a tablecloth

Sometimes our dinner guests don’t have the best table manners and leave our tablecloths like they’ve been in the middle of a food fight in the school cafeteria.

Instead of trying in vain to get rid of stains, consider turning these tablecloths into cute plant wraps!

Measure the height of the pot and cut the tablecloth to size. Just wrap the tablecloth around the pot and glue it in place. Sturdy tablecloths can be cut a little lower to make the plant look taller!

5. Use strings

Wrapping string, twine, or ribbon around indoor pots is a quick way to decorate and display your plants. Giving the basket look is quick and easy to do.

Simply attach the end of the string to the top edge of the pot and continue twisting it all the way down. When you’re done, apply some glue to the end and voila!

These are just a few ways to turn your drab pots into trendsetting houseplant accessories! Let your imagination fly!
