The greenhouse is a good system to help the growth of plants and be able to give them a more appropriate development space, for example, take care of them from excessive wind, cold, give them a higher temperature, another benefit is that you can sow seeds in advance during the season of growth, under a controlled environment, without fear of losing the entire crop due to unexpected situations such as those that occur outdoors.
The benefits of having a greenhouse at home.
The attraction of the greenhouse is that you can extend the growing season. This is especially desirable in cold climates where the favorable times for plant growth last a few months, which is not enough for some vegetables to be harvested.
For this we will make our own greenhouse for the garden.
Construction of a small greenhouse in our own garden.
It is advisable to level the ground a little before assembling them. The measurements of the woods are 1.5 meters long x 4 cm and 24 cm. And for the longest woods it is 2.4 meters. The measurements may vary according to your needs.
As can be seen in the image where it says “ pocket holes ”, it indicates one of the ways in which the wood can be assembled; for a simpler shape you can simply nail or screw the sides from the outside.
Now we create a top frame, 4 cm x 4 cm thick. Which must coincide with the same size of the base frame, since it will be the part that has mobility when we include the hinges.
Next, we attached 3-meter 1/2 ″ PBC pipe to create the arches.
As the image below shows, a clamp must be attached to the PBC pipes to hold them.
The next step is optional, because depending on various circumstances it may or may not be necessary. Wire mesh and a large amount of electrical tape are used to secure it to the pipes. This can help give the frame more stability, but there may be other options to make the frame more secure without using wire mesh.
Now the plastic is placed that must be well attached to the mesh, or in the case of not using mesh, be attached to the PBC pipes.
Now two hinges are placed on one of the sides.
The chain or rope (optional) helps us keep the roof of our small greenhouse in a vertical position.
This is an automatic irrigation system to introduce a hose, by installing this adapter on the side the hose is introduced and begins to water, slowly.
Now it is time for sowing and that is it.
These would be all the necessary steps to have our greenhouse at home, created to take advantage of all the seasons of the year and give plants and seeds an ideal place to grow.
