Toothpaste isn’t just for brushing your teeth, it has 10 alternative uses that can save you a ton of money and time.

  1. Shine your shoes.
This tactic works well on worn leather sneakers or shoes. As with carpet stains, apply toothpaste directly to the dirty or worn area, then scrub with a brush and wipe clean.
  2. Remove stains.
Toothpaste can make tough stains on clothes and carpets disappear. For clothes, apply toothpaste directly to the stain and rub hard until the stain is gone, then you should wash as usual. (Note that using a whitening toothpaste can discolor the colored fabric.) For carpet stains, apply toothpaste to the stain and scrub with an abrasive brush, rinse immediately.

3.Clean the piano keys.
Over time, the piano keys can become yellow and dirty. Generally, this is caused by constant finger contact, as well as aging of the piano. Rub the piano keys with the toothpaste using a sponge or toothbrush and they will look like new.

4.Iron clean clothes.
Often the bottom of the clothes iron turns black. This can stick to your clothes while you are ironing and cause stains. Toothpaste is a simple solution to this problem. Rub the toothpaste on the bottom of the iron with a toothbrush or sponge.

5.Prevent your bathroom mirror from fogging up.
There is nothing more annoying than a foggy bathroom mirror. Rub the toothpaste on the mirror and wipe it off before taking your next shower. This will prevent the mirror from fogging up.

  1. Brighten Chrome Fixtures.
Using a toothbrush or sponge, apply toothpaste to chrome fixtures. Then rinse and dry the accessories with a cloth, and they will shine again.

7.Remove crayon marks from the walls.
Do your children write murals on the walls with crayons? The toothpaste will remove crayon stains immediately. Simply apply the paste and scrub with a sponge or toothbrush.

  1. Polish jewelry.
If you find yourself without a jewelry cleaner, use toothpaste. Apply with a soft bristle toothbrush and polish immediately. Rinse well and let dry. Not only does toothpaste clean your jewelry, it also makes it shiny.
  2. Remove scratches on DVDs and CDs.
This remedy has been used with varying success rates, but it appears to work quite well on shallow scratches and stains. Apply a thin layer of toothpaste to the disc and rub gently and then rinse.
  3. Defog glasses.
Divers, swimmers, and triathletes already know about this handy little trick: Rub a small amount of toothpaste on each goggle lens, then rinse well, and voila! There will be no need to buy expensive defogging gels again. Avoid rubbing too hard, as the abrasive ingredients in toothpaste can scratch the lenses.
