Learn how to create a good soil for garden cultivation, to make the plants grow better and faster, and know how to get the most out of your crops.
To have good land for cultivation, efficient management of all resources is essential. Every time fruit, vegetable or flower cultivation is carried out, the soil of a garden must be fertilized correctly to be as well prepared as possible for future intervention.
The importance of preparing the garden soil.
The organic modifications that are made in the soil, for example, the application of fertilizer or roots, have numerous advantages: they allow the rejuvenation of poor soil, the drainage of excess water, wetting the roots and the retention of nutrients to the roots.
Before spring planting, it is necessary to enrich the soil in the garden so that plants, flowers and vegetables grow robustly and healthy. Note that where the native trees and shrubs are does not need to be treated, unless the soil is sandy or heavy clay.
How to prepare the land for cultivation?
Good soil is one that offers a mixture of compost clippings that includes: grass, leaves, wood chips from tree pruning, and plain soil. To create a perfect soil, you should use a garden shovel and a 5-10 cm layer of compost mix and a 20-30 cm layer of soil on top of it.
If your garden has been subjected to forced labor on the surface, it will be necessary to improve the conditions of the soil or even put a new layer of soil before starting to dedicate itself to planting.
Check the soil condition before sowing.
Before proceeding to sow, we must take into account the following conditions, according to the plants that we are going to sow:
- The blueberries and rhododendrons. When growing acidic plants, you need to know the pH levels of the soil. There are specific kits that show these results and are for sale in specialized greenhouses or gardens. If the pH of your soil is greater than 6, you need to use peat moss to make the soil as fertile as possible.
- Annual flowers and vegetables: Sometimes in the planting of flowers or vegetables, a stick or a cane must be placed that will help them to grow. By doing so, the flowers and vegetables have all the conditions to develop in a healthy and consistent environment.
- Blackberries, raspberries and strawberries: The soil of these fruits must be strengthened or renewed before the respective plantations begin. This is a procedure that must be done regularly (at least every two years), so there will always be quality fruit in your garden.
- Lawn: Lawn has a lot of difficulty coping with heavy, sandy soil. As such, the soil of a lawn needs to be fertilized as much as possible, so that this green carpet is always in perfect condition and presentation.
- Rose bushes and similar flowers need a sandy soil and the location of these plants should be oriented where there can be direct sunlight. To improve the quality of the sandy soil, you can add organic matter and fertilizers, which includes animal manure as well.
