Recycled cardboard bicycles.

A cardboard bicycle, this was the conclusion that Phil Bridge reached when he stopped to think about the different reasons why people do not use the bicycle as a means of transport. Phil concluded that the price and fear of the bicycle being stolen could be counteracted with a low-cost bicycle that would not be attractive to bicycle thieves.

Phil Bridge, 21, a student at Sheffield Hallam University, opted for the creation of a cardboard bicycle for which he resorted to a type of cardboard used in industrial packaging and that can be produced for about 6 euros. To this cost we must add that of the chain and the wheels, which would leave this cardboard bicycle at a final cost of about 30 euros.

Despite being a prototype, Phil says that the cardboard bike can support the weight of a cyclist of up to 76 kilos and withstand the rain. Without a doubt, this prototype wooden bicycle is a healthy competition to Marco Facciola’s wooden bicycle.

This invention belongs to Marco Facciola, a 16-year-old student, who built the wooden bicycle to meet a class requirement. It is a bicycle built purely of wood and functional. For more details see the link .

For the little ones there are also cardboard designs and other recycled materials and sustainable designs.

Their name is Wishbone bike and they are designed for learning, they are created in wood and are ideal for the little ones from 2 to 5 years of age.
The design is original and because of the materials with which it was created, it helps to conserve the environment, the wheels have 60 percent recycled plastic in their composition, their wood comes from plantations.

This other design was titled “To produce a cardboard bike only costs $ 9” and it really is a great design, in the video (recommended) you will see much more detail.

This design created by  Giora Kariv, is simply spectacular. The cardboard bike can withstand water and moisture, coated with a solid layer of brown and black material, making the finished product look like it is made of hard, lightweight plastic. It can carry pilots weighing up to 220 kilograms. The cost to make the bike is around $ 9 – $ 12 euros and the manufacturer expects the cost to the consumer to be around $ 60 – $ 90 depending on which parts the consumer chooses to add.
